In line with the three-tier model of inclusive practice outlined in the DfE’s SEND and AP Improvement Plan, OA-Havering has developed a Tier 1 outreach programme that prioritises individual needs and early support to help prevent permanent exclusions.
By working with small groups of 11 to 16 year olds who are displaying concerning behaviour or are at risk of exclusion, we provide targeted early therapeutic interventions for pupils and next-step support for mainstream staff, enabling pupils to succeed in their mainstream school.

Tier 1
Support from the Olive Outreach Team within the mainstream school
Suitable for
- Early intervention for pupils in Years 7/8
- Intervention for pupils in Year 9 or early in Year 10

Offer
A six-week programme of targeted support, for one day per week, for up to eight pupils identified by the mainstream school.
Programme delivery
We will undertake a range of therapeutic assessments to gain a holistic understanding of each pupil. We will deliver a range of activities to support with self-regulation and managing behaviours, to help build resilience and engage with lessons

Next-step support
We will share a bespoke learning passport, identifying key areas of need, complete with pupil voice, so that the school can successfully support the individual following completion of the Tier 1 Outreach Programme.
