OA-Havering students celebrate a year of achievement and new opportunities

Students at OA-Havering welcomed a strong set of results, with a wide range of academic and vocational qualifications unlocking new opportunities for their futures.

93% of students achieved a GCSE in English and 87% achieved a GCSE in Maths, with 87% achieving GCSEs in both subjects. More than half of students (53%) achieved at least four GCSEs, while 47% achieved five or more. A particularly notable achievement saw 20% of students achieve eight GCSEs. The alternative provision average rate of achieving 1 or more GCSE is 49% - showing we are well above sector national averages.

Students gained an average of nine qualifications across Level 1 and Level 2 academic and vocational subjects, highlighting the breadth of learning available at OA-Havering and the different routes students can take towards their future goals.

Examination results are only one measure of success. Behind every qualification is an individual journey – and for many students, that journey includes rebuilding confidence, finding a sense of belonging and developing the skills and resilience needed to engage positively with education.

Mandeep Kaur, Head of Academy, said:

What stands out to me is not simply the number of qualifications they have achieved, but the personal growth that has happened alongside them. We hope they leave us knowing they can achieve more than they may once have thought possible, and we look forward to seeing where their determination takes them next.
